is a yearly ink-drawing challenge initiated by Jake Parker in 2009. Drawlloween
, which also takes place every October, was started by Brian Sora. It focuses less on medium and more on Halloween-themed drawing prompts. Both events are fun, and each is worth participating in, regardless of your skill level as an artist.
October 1st, 2015 – Inktober launch! Drawn with a Pentel pocket brush on Strathmore smooth Bristol. Signed with a Derwent Graphik Line Maker (0.3), because my brush skills aren’t all that mad. Drawn after the blue foo dog, or guardian lion, statue that the wife and I keep by our bedroom door.
Inktober 3rd, 2015 – Godzilla, “Don’t Brush Me Off!” Higgins Black India ink and a #3 round on smooth Strathmore Bristol. This guy lives in our guest bathroom and holds a cardboard sign that says “SAVE TOKYO! FEED ME!”
P.S. He’s a bank. P.P.S. The wife and I are utterly without shame.
Inktober 4th, 2015 – Brush Pen Barn Owl. I love barn owl faces, even when they aren’t in barns. Kuretake brush pen.
Inktober 5th, 2015 – Angry Selfie. Speedball acrylic ink with #512 nib and #4 round synthetic brush on smooth Strathmore Bristol.
Inktober 7th, 2015 – Linda. Speedball Super Pigmented Acrylic Ink and #512 nib on smooth Strathmore Bristol. You know you’ve married the right woman when she lets you draw — and post! — horrible drawings of her, because (even though she doesn’t draw, herself) she recognizes the value of practice and consistency. Thanks, honey! I owe you big.
Inktober 11th, 2015 – For the Drawlloween prompt “Swamp Meet”. That’s supposed to be Charlie Daniels holding the fiddle, and he’s just met the ghost of Lucius Clay in the Wooley Swamp, which is a part of Booger Woods. (If you don’t know the song, DuckDuckGo
is your friend!) Drawn with Derwent Graphik Line Maker pens.
Inktober 12th, 2015 – For the Drawlloween prompt “Magical Mystery.” Drawn, mostly, with Derwent Graphik Line Makers. Not real sure how that water brush was involved… It’s a mystery inside a mystery!
Inktober 14th and 16th, 2015 – This took me more than one day to draw, and therein breaks the rule. This drawing killed Inktober 2015
, for me, but I like it better than some of the other, less-stressful, rule-abiding drawings I did that October. Speedball acrylic ink on Strathmore Bristol.
